alexandria_bonaparte asked:
If you are writing a fantasy series (6 books) with multiple “dark” organizations (4), which villains should you provide the most details about?
Organization 1 is the main group that is revealed over the course of the six books. Organization 2 is made up of members that my main characters know and despise. Organization 3 is a pawn of organization 1 and has intimate connections with my protagonists. Organization 4 is a pawn of organization 2. A member of organizations 1 and 4 are related.

Hope this isn’t too confusing.
Also, organization 1 forms the main plot while the others are subplots.

You usually only provide the most detail about the ones involved in the action in some way… I would love to read your material
You should write about the most interesting and dark characters, try to make the reader feel pity for them, the important thing is that they are really evil! Personally, I would chose the head of the dark organizations.
You should provide more details about the head of the orginization, or maybe his sidekick or something?
The main villains, the ones you write the most about. Like if I had a character, say his name was Francis, and he had a brother whose name was Foghort or some odd name like that, Francis is the main villain because I use him more often and he is more involved in the book. He killed his parents and his hair is a crimson the shade of blood. It is just like that who is Foghort, a side character, you just need him to fill up space, but you still need him so you tell about him, but not as much about him as you told about Francis. If that makes any sense, please tell me.

It depends. If the organizations are all involved directly with the plot, they all need mention. However, if their is one or two that aren’t actually involved with the plot, you could just mention their name in passing. Another thing I would like to know is are different organizations involved in the different books?
In book 1, for example, is Organization 1 the main villain only? Then in book 2 Organization 2 is the villain, etc. If each book has a different villain, they obviously need the most details. Then if the organizations all teamed up by book 5 or 6, for example, you wouldn’t need too much extra info, since they were described in detail in the earlier books. Understand?
